Preventing sexual harassment

From the 26th October 2024, new legislation came into effect for organisations to ensure they are taking reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. This is a big step forward and rightly so, that places a duty on organisations to ensure they can demonstrate their preventative measures. The legislation also extends to third party prevention e.g. customers and contractors that either visit or work in or on your premises. As a minimum, you should have a robust policy in place that clearly sets out your approach to sexual harassment, conduct and maintain effective training, have a live risk assessment that supports the steps you are taking to prevent sexual harassment and demonstrate a zero tolerance approach to sexual harassment in the workplace.
